It is always more than the price of the house when it comes to settling on buying a home.

LOCATION

First things first, location. It can make it easier to find a future home for you if you narrow it down to an area that you would like to live. This can be determined by commute time to work, location to schools, drive to groceries and shopping and other factors. You just need to determine which factors are the most important for you. Columbia Missouri has a lot of up and coming areas to consider.

The south side of Columbia is growing rapidly with prestigious schools such as the rock bridge schools and many commercial amenities are located along Nifong and Providence. The Eastside of Columbia offers easy access to HWY 63 and I-70 with a variety of new and older communities.

The Westside of COMO has a large supply of shopping including, the Columbia Mall, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Hyvee, and more. The Northside of Columbia offers a more quiet approach to living with a range of built-out communities and sprawling farms.

SIZE OF HOME

The size of the home is also something to consider when buying your home. If you are needing more space because of the size of the family you have or the fact that you like to entertain. You may also consider if you are able to pay for utility bills to heat and cool a larger home.

AGE OF HOME

The age of the home can be a big consideration as well for the purchasability of the home. Remember that older homes usually mean higher utility bills and more maintenance. A new home built with energy efficiency in mind may be what you should consider if this is of concern to you. When you buy an older home you are more likely to get more square footage, a larger lot, and mature landscape included with the home.

SCHOOLS

The school district that you the home you are considering can be just as important as the price of your home. Many people who have kids consider the rating that the school receives when buying a home. Whether or not you have kids you may want to consider the school rating. This helps you when it comes to reselling your home down the road. You can find school ratings HERE.

AMENITIES

Amenities can mean a variety of things. It just all depends on what is important to you. Are you looking for a community with amenities such as a pool, tennis courts, or a gate? Or are you looking for nearby commercial amenities like nearby restaurants, groceries, shopping, banks and more?

When it comes down to it you need to figure out what is the most important factor for your everyday life. What can you not live without and what do you mind sacrificing.
